Grace's Frozen Birthday Party

And just like that, Grace is 4!
And since she is such a Frozen addict, we threw her a mid summer Frozen party!  And she loved it!
This was probably the simplest party we have thrown.  But I it was also the most stress free one!  I actually had fun.  I wasn't running around and I wasn't completely tired from setting up before the party even started!  We rented the party room at the Chino Youth Museum.  It was totally worth the very little we paid to have it there.  I bought the family membership in the Spring so the cost of having it there was a whopping $75!  And the kids had a blast running around and playing.

I wasn't going to do a lot in regards to decorations, but last minute, I churned out these centerpieces.  I had the purple pots left over from last year's decorations.  I bought those at a Dollar store.  I printed out images of the Frozen characters on white card stock paper (I googled Frozen clipart), cut them out and glued them to bamboo skewers.  I filled the pots with moss foam blocks.  I used purple and teal tissue to cover the sticks.  And there you go!
One  side had Olaf, Christoff and Sven.

The other side of the centerpieces had Olaf, Elsa and Anna.  Also, the circle said, "Grace's Frozen Birthday" at the top and on the bottom it said, "Family and Friends Forever."  I got these from on FunnyPartyInvitation on Etsy.  I originally bought the listing for the favor circle tag, but then asked her to re-create it so I could use it for the centerpieces.

I got the idea for Frozen rice crispy square pops from here on Etsy.  I thought they were really cute!  I made rice krispies following the recipe on the box.  One thing I did that helped out a lot was lining the pans with parchment paper.  So when it was cooled down, I easily pulled out the parchment paper, placed the rice krispies on a cutting block and cut them into squares.  Made it so easy!

I spread melted white candy melts on them and sprinkled them with blue sugar crystals.  I put them in clear favor bags that I bought at Michael's (make sure the candy is completely dried before placing in the bags.  I waited overnight).  Then I tied a frozen favor tag on to each one.  They were cute and yummy!

The cake was gorgeous!  This was made by a my friend Erika's mother.  She makes the best tasting cakes!!!

Instead of giving lots of candy and toys as favors, we gave a Frozen book and Frozen stickers.  I ordered both of these from Amazon.com.  The book is by Little Golden books.  It's cute and my daughter loves reading it.

I found really cool "frozen" themed clip art on the internet and printed it out.  Cut it into 2 inch strips and taped it to the front of the clear bag.  Then I taped a favor tag to it.  It was cute!

And Grace was so excited to have Queen Elsa and Princess Anna visit her!  They did such a great job!  We hired them from Enchanted Characters.  They told and sang the Frozen story.  They also did a special coronation ceremony with Grace.  And helped sing Happy Birthday to her.  They were worth every penny we paid for them!

That's a very happy girl!

And of course, Caleb had to get into the action too!  He kept giving them hugs and kisses.

We had a lot of fun!  I will definitely have Caleb's birthday party at the museum as well.  So easy!
And to commemorate Grace's Frozen party, I made a few Frozen Premade scrapbooks.  They came out so cute.  The pictures do not do them justice.  I have two posted on Etsy and thee on Ebay for sale.
Here are the yummy scrapbooks:

Frozen Inspired Chipboard Scrapbook Album

I crafted!  Funny how a little motivation will get you to do just about anything including making time!  But it feels so good to create.
I made two Frozen inspired chipboard albums.  I LOVE how they came out!  Super cute and fun.  I used lots of glitter.  It was hard to create this because there isn't any Frozen scrapbook materials on the market.  I found a few sheets of scrapbook paper and stickers, but they were sold by a store in England.  So I bought digital files from Etsy and printed the paper on my own.  I scoured the internet for images and printed them myself.  I did buy a few stickers off Ebay that I was able to use. So all in all, I am happy with the end product.
Here it is!
6 pages of fun!

The Ice Princess

Sweet Princess Anna

Hugs from Olaf and a little bit of everyone's favorite reindeer and Christoff

The gang

Sisters!
I have 10 more of these babies planned.  They will be very similar to this one with some variation.  I made two of these and they are currently for sale on Etsy.  Here is the link: https://www.etsy.com/listing/190813874/frozen-inspired-premade-chipboard?

Princess Valentine's Box

We were asked to provide a decorated Valentine's box for Grace's preschool.  They are doing a Valentine's card exchange.
I went around and around with different ideas for a box and couldn't decide.  Finally, it dawned on me to ask her what she wanted.
And of course she said she wanted a princess box.  Should have guessed!
So here is what I made for her.

I couldn't find a shoebox that I felt was the right size so I ended up buying a plain white craft storage box at Michael's.  I also envisioned Disney princess style scrapbook paper to decorate the box with, but they don't sell it at Michael's anymore.  Just the stickers and embellishments.  So I found this glitter paper.  I like it better!  I also added felt glittered crowns to each corner.  The heart stickers are also felt with glitter.  I used the Hello Kitty Font cartridge to cut out her name using my Cricut.

The crown was an extra she had from her dress up clothes.  She has plenty so I am sure she won't miss this one.  The princess stickers I bought at Michael's.  I spent a little more that I had planned to, but I love how her box came out.

Poor little Caleb...he doesn't need one, but I have decided to make him a Thomas the Train box.  More to come...

Beth

Princess Room in the Making part 1

Grace has been asking for a princess room for a while now.  I finally got around to starting on that...

I have been feeling crafty.  So I took out the Cricut and the Princess cartridge and got to work.  I made four wall hangings for Grace's room.  I bought four 12x12 paint canvases from Michaels.  I adhered hot pink cardstock to the canvases with Loctite spray adhesive ( make sure you use this outside with cardboard or newspaper as a backing).  I also added another layer of white cardstock.

I found these really neat Disney Princess glitter papers from Creative Imaginations Signature Collection. The blue is Cinderella themed, the yellow is Belle, the Purple has crowns in the background, and the pink is Sleeping Beauty themed.  I bought these at Wooten's Scrapbook store in Ontario. I love that I live close to this store now.  Wooten's is scrapbook heaven!
The glitter paper makes a great background to the images I cut for the canvases.

First up is a princess.  This was two different images from the cartridge.  The paper doll girl and the princess dress.  These were cut at 10 inches.  I didn't want to make them to big.  I wanted to make sure there was some room left so the image didn't look crowded.  I used hot pink glitter paper for the accents.  On the crown, wand, and flower accent on the dress, I used Inkssentials Glossy Accents to make it look shiny.

I also used glitter paper for the accents on the unicorn.  The hair was from a shiny pink cardstock paper.  I used Tattered Angels Shimmer mist spray to add shimmer to the body of the unicorn.  you can't tell in this picture but it has a subtle shimmer.

I love this castle.  I actually used this image to make castle shaped princess chipboard albums.  These were a hot item when I had an active Etsy store and scrapbook business.  I used three shades of pink and glitter paper for the accents.

This frog is just adorable.  Every princess needs a froggie to remind us that no prince is perfect!  I used green glitter paper for the body. Also, I used the Inkssentials Glossy Accents to give the crown depth.

These were pretty easy to make thanks to my Cricut.  I love that thing!  It took me about two hours from cutting out the images to adhering everything to the canvases.

Princess Grace gives her approval.  She loves her new princess decorations.  Her room is quite different today. We took down her toddler bed and she is now sleeping in a big girl bed!

Up next...a new princess themed name banner.  I have a neat idea for this that will incorporate her favorite Disney princesses.  I have another wall hanging...I'm waiting on a hot pink frame I ordered from Hobby Lobby.  I also have a huge Castle wall decal I bought from Zulily that will be going up tomorrow.  More pictures to come...

Beth

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!!  It's 2014!  That was fast.  It feels like the holidays flew by.  2013 was literally a whirlwind for me.  I am looking forward to a fabulous 2014.

2013 brought us many unexpected blessings.  Mostly the blessing of our new home.  We certainly didn't expect to buy a home when the year started out, but by May we were on the house hunt.  It didn't seem like it was going to happen for us, but by June we were in Escrow.  The Lord really blessed us through this process and by the end of the month we had moved into our new home.  Literally a new home.  We bought a model home in Eastvale, CA.
Our new home.  Our gift from the Lord.
This is my third week off and I have spent the time with the kids.  It has gotten easier for all of us being together so much.  I have learned that I need to keep them busy!  We did a few crafts.  We decorated a gingerbread house. They loved it especially because they ate a lot of candy. I am actually surprised that this much candy made it on the house.
Caleb adding candy to the house while Grace eats it.

I found this manger scene and the people for it online at Design Dazzle.  It was cute!  I printed out the manger scene and cut out the people.  With a little direction, they added the people to the manger scene.  It turned out well and I was able to tell them about Jesus' birth.  I will definitely keep this for next year.

I think I might have gone a little overboard on Christmas gifts for the kids.  I started buying gifts back in June and even though I got lots of things on clearance and great deals...like a doll house for $18 (normally $230!)...it was a bit overwhelming.  The kids stopped opening gifts halfway through because they just wanted to play with the ones they had opened.  Lesson for next time...

This was the best picture I could get of the kids Christmas morning.  They couldn't wait to start opening gifts.
Christmas day I hosted lunch with my family.  It was so much fun to have them over.  We enjoyed a yummy Christmas lunch and great company.

This is a small portion of my family.  I have three sisters and six brothers.
I am looking forward to a prosperous and restful 2014.  I am praying that this year is not as busy as last year.  I am also looking forward to family time.  And mostly importantly, I am focusing on improving my health, fitness, and my relationship with the Lord.  I have put these things on the back burner and it's time to make them a priority.  I fell prey to the hectic pace of my life...work, kids, husband, etc.  And now it's time to take the reins and take care of me.
Hoping you get a chance to also take the reins in 2014 and take care of you.
Blessings,
Beth

1st Annual Christmas Cookie Exchange Luncheon

I hosted my first Christmas Cookie Exchange party!  It was so much fun!!  I invited ladies from work.  It was a small gathering, but it was perfect.  I didn't have the ladies tell me what cookies they would bring to ensure there were no duplicates, but it worked out because no one brought the same cookies.

I made White Chocolate Peppermint cookies.  I found the recipe here: http://www.galonamission.com/peppermint-white-chocolate-chip-cookies/.
The cookies were yummy and festive.

I made Lasagna, salad, garlic bread, hot chocolate and apple cider.  It was a simple lunch, but yummy.  Afterwards, we test tasted the cookies.  All yummy!  I was planning on saving them for Christmas, but not sure if they will make it that long...

The kids were so good!  They played with block and Legos.  They let us ladies have girl time.  Oh and that little guy Caleb, he's a tall one!  He had his 2 year doctor's appointment this morning. He's 36 inches tall.

Here we are with our cookies.  Thank you ladies for a wonderful afternoon.

I made these Christmas card holders for the ladies as party gifts.  They loved them.  They are like the one I made for myself.

Christmas is next week!  I can't believe how quickly it has come upon me.  I'm ready!!
Blessings,
Beth

I Crafted!

I wish I had been the person who had won the Mega Millions today!  It would have helped if I had bought a ticket...

One day into my Christmas vacation I had the inspiration to craft and I did!  I wanted something cute to display Christmas cards.  In our old home, I taped cards to a wall in the hallway.  Not the coolest, but it worked.

I googled Christmas card holders and I found this on Pinterest at http://www.pinterest.com/pin/199002877258086181/

This is my version.

I love how it looks.  I have it hanging in the kitchen.  I might need to redo the ribbons.  They might need to be longer.  Plus I didn't realize that I had bought two ribbons that are wired (that's what happens when you shop with a 2 and a 3 year old).  As you can see they sort of curl up.  I am debating whether to leave it as is or replace them.  I went to Michael's today.  Their selection of Christmas ribbon is minimal.  It's the 70% to 50% off all their Christmas stuff!

So I am completely done Christmas shopping.  Now I need to stay out of the stores!

I am enjoying being with the kids.  Although, there is some adjustment for them and me being together all day.  I know you working moms know what I'm talking about.

Shopping can be hard with both kids in tow.  So this is what I did this morning and it was smooth sailing at Target...

Thank God for Icees!  Not a peep of fussiness.

Blessings!
Beth
